I Dream of a School

I dream of a school I've been dreaming of it for years. Maybe since I was a child myself. And certainly since I had my first child.

I've come to realize— A school is not about the building. The building could be ordinary, unremarkable. But not the people. Not the community. Not the values. Not the ideas. Those would be enchanting.

I dream of a place where my children are safe— In body, mind, and spirit. A place where they can speak freely of alternative healing and learn it, Where every family's choices are honored, And no one questions the thriving of a child. A place where parents and teachers walk a shared path, Where discussions are welcome, Where learning is guided by the children, Not the government.

A school shaped by unschooling, Free schooling, And the heart of Waldorf education.

Some might say it’s impossible. But in my dream, it’s not.

I dream of a place where children know they matter, Where their voices are heard, Where they grow into adults who not only thrive on Earth But heal the Earth For future generations.

A place where creativity and intuition Are not just encouraged and developed—They are essential.

Where teachers look beyond books, Using astrology and human design, Not to place children in boxes, But to step into their world—To see them fully.

A space where parents are welcome, Not as visitors, but as participants. Where they build, teach, sing, and dance alongside the children.

A place that doesn’t demand thousands of dollars— But is accessible to every child meant to be there. And if too many come? We build another.

In my dream, there are gardens, Flowers, bees, and chickens. The children learn to speak with the trees As naturally as they learn three times three

A place where adults honor the child’s gifts, Where trust flows both ways, Where humility and wisdom go hand in hand.

A place spiritual but not bound by religion— Open to curiosity, Honoring all paths. A child does not need to be baptized to attend.

A place of laughter and movement, Where dance and service are woven into learning.

And I ask myself—

What do I do with a dream like that?

I start somewhere.
